SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — “Fifty Shades of Grey” is a gray area for some, who claim the books could lead to problems.
- In London, the fire brigade is worries it could see a spike in calls from couples stuck in handcuffs.
- The Consumer Product Safety Commission says emergency room visits for injuries involving sex toys increased after the books came out—58 percent more men getting injured than women. The most likely age group for women is between 20 and 30 and for men between 40 and 50.
- An archbishop in Cincinnati told Catholics to skip the movie, saying it’s a direct assault on Christian marriage and gives an anti-marriage message.
- Some domestic violence advocates called for a boycott on the movie with the hashtag #50dollarsnot50shades, asking people to donate money to a shelter instead of seeing the movie.
