VENICE (CBSLA.com) — A sunbather was recovering at a local hospital Tuesday after she was run over by a Los Angeles County vehicle at Venice Beach.
The accident happened near the intersection of Ocean Front Walk and Venice Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Officials said a lifeguard was driving the county-owned vehicle across the beach and did not see the 25-year-old woman lying in the sand when he ran her over.
The woman was at the beach with her husband, but he was in the water when the accident happened.
Her injuries were not life threatening and she was able to give a statement to police Monday night, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Risk management officials were continuing their investigation into the incident Tuesday.
Monday’s incident marked the second time in four months that a sunbather was run over by a county vehicle.
