Test Results Show No Listeria At Schwebel’s Youngstown Bakery

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (KDKA) — The Schwebel Baking Company pulled products from shelves Tuesday after listeria was detected at its Youngstown plant, but test results did not show the presence of the bacteria at their facility.

The Schwebel Baking Company announced Wednesday that there is no public health hazard, and it has no knowledge that any of its products have been impacted by the presence of listeria in its facility. The tests were conducted by an independent testing laboratory.

Part of the statement released by the company today reads:

“The report of the independent third party did not show the presence of listeria monocytogenes in the Youngstown facility, the species of listeria that causes severe illness in pregnant women and persons with compromised immune systems.”
