Report: Agents Pulled From Border To Process Immigrant Children

PHOENIX (CBS Las Vegas) – The flood of unaccompanied child immigrants along the Mexican border has created a security nightmare, reports KPHO-TV.

Border Patrol agents are being diverted to detention centers to care for the thousands of children who are being processed in facilities across the Southwest.

That raises fears about drug smugglers, human traffickers and other criminals taking advantage of the decrease in patrols to sneak into the U.S.

Conservative website published photos it says are of paramilitary groups crossing the border into Arizona.

Contributor Katie Pavlich said the images come from a hidden camera 30 miles north of the Mexico border in southeast Arizona. The photos were taken on July 3 and again three days later, she said.

National Border Patrol Counsel Vice President Shawn Moran tells KPHO-TV he wouldn’t be surprised if criminal groups are taking advantage of the manpower shortage.
